FAA 28 Day NASR Subscription

US airports, navaids, fixes, airways, airspace, and frequencies from the FAA's National Airspace System Resources files, every 28 days.

About

The FAA's Aeronautical Information Services publishes the 28 Day NASR Subscription: complete snapshots of National Airspace System Resources data, posted 28 days before each AIRAC effective date. Each cycle is one zip on nfdc.faa.gov with a README, CSV groups such as APT, NAV, FIX, AWY, ILS, FRQ, CLS_ARSP, and WXL, legacy flat TXT files with layout definitions, AIXM 5.1 files for navaids, airports, ASOS/AWOS, and airways, AIXM 5.0 Special Activity Airspace, and ESRI shapefiles for Class B, C, D, and E airspace. A CSV change report compares the cycle with the previous one. Coordinates reference NAD 83.

Through Fibric, an operator loads the cycle for your states, keeps airport, runway, and frequency reference current, and proposes a reference update or a data-freshness note for your approval when a cycle changes what your sites depend on.

This is a reference listing. It documents what Fibric would read from FAA 28 Day NASR Subscription and what it could propose, based on the publisher's published interfaces. Fibric builds it under a managed deployment when you request it; selecting it here installs nothing.

Inputs

  • Airports and Other Landing Facilities (APT) with runway data as CSV and legacy TXT, plus a PAVEMENT CLASSIFICATION column (PCN or PCR) from 2026-09-03
  • Navigation Aids (NAV), Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Fix/Reporting Point/Waypoint (FIX), and Holding Patterns (HPF)
  • Airway (AWY), Coded Departure Routes (CDR), Preferred Route / Tower Enroute Control Routes (PFR), Departure Procedure (DP), and Standard Terminal Arrival (STAR)
  • Class Airspace (CLS_ARSP), ARTCC Boundary Data (ARB), Military Operations (MIL_OPS), Military Training Routes (MTR), and Parachute Jump Area (PJA)
  • Air Traffic Control Communication (ATC), Communication Facilities (COM), Flight Service Stations (FSS), Frequency Data (FRQ), ASOS/AWOS, and Weather Reporting Locations (WXL)
  • Location Identifiers (LID), RADAR Data (RDR), Miscellaneous Activity Area (MAA), and the 28 Day Cycle CSV Change Report between consecutive cycles
  • AIXM 5.1 for NAV, APT, AWOS, and AWY; AIXM 5.0 for Special Activity Airspace; ESRI shapefiles for Class B, C, D, and E airspace

Proposed actions

Read-only. This feed informs operators; it changes nothing.

Proposed actions are target capabilities. Every action runs propose-first and needs a validated deployment and the appropriate permissions.

What you can build

  • Keep an airport reference table current

The operator downloads each cycle's APT and FRQ CSVs, diffs them against your reference table using the change report, and proposes the update with the effective date attached.

    With Data Freshness

  • Check a job site against Class airspace before dispatch

Using the Class B, C, D, and E shapefiles, the operator flags a drone job inside controlled airspace and proposes a permit check before the crew leaves.

    With Permit Check

  • Refresh the frequencies your dispatch desk uses

When a cycle changes a tower, ground, or ASOS frequency at an airport you serve, the operator proposes the change to your dispatch reference and records what moved.

    With Field Dispatch

Requirements

  • A loader keyed to the effective date; files post 28 days before a cycle takes effect, and the page lists preview and current editions
  • The layout files (apt_rf.txt and the others) for legacy TXT, or the README and CSV headers for the CSV groups
  • Handling for Change Notice cycles: ARB, ATS, AWY, CDR, MTR, PFR, PJA, STARDP, and WXL change only on the 56-day major cycle
  • Tracking of Data Product Notices; the 2026-09-03 cycle changed TXT and CSV formats under DPN 26-01 (NASR 10.1)
Authentication
Anonymous HTTPS downloads. The subscription zips, CSV groups, layout files, and README come from nfdc.faa.gov with no key or account.

Limits

  • A full snapshot every 28 days, not a live feed; changes inside a cycle appear in the next posting
  • Legacy TXT files cite no datum; the README states US coordinates reference NAD 83
  • Enroute resources update only on the 56-day charting cycle, so Change Notice sets repeat those files unchanged
  • The TXT to CSV mapping document was awaiting revision for the NASR 10.1 changes at the 2026-09-03 cycle

Questions and answers

How often does NASR data change?
Every 28 days on the AIRAC cycle. The FAA posts each subscriber set 28 days before its effective date; the page lists a preview edition, the current edition, and archives back through 2024. Enroute files such as AWY, CDR, MTR, and STARDP change only on the 56-day major cycle.
Which formats are in the subscription?
CSV groups with a README, legacy flat TXT files with layout definitions, AIXM 5.1 for NAV, APT, AWOS, and AWY, AIXM 5.0 for Special Activity Airspace, ESRI shapefiles for Class B, C, D, and E airspace, and a CSV change report between cycles.
Is the legacy TXT format still published?
Yes, alongside CSV. The 2026-09-03 cycle changed both TXT and CSV formats under Data Product Notice 26-01; the FAA published test subscriber files first and noted the TXT to CSV mapping document would be revised for NASR 10.1.
