About

IESO Public Reports is the open file server of Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator at reports-public.ieso.ca. Each report has a folder of XML or CSV files named PUB_<Report>_<period>, with versioned copies and an unversioned current file. The tree covers hourly Ontario and Market demand since 2002, 5-minute zonal demand, generator output by fuel type for facilities of 20 MW or more, day-ahead, pre-dispatch, and real-time locational marginal prices, the Adequacy report for today and the next 34 days, 48-hour wind and solar forecasts, intertie flows, and planned transmission outages.

This is a reference listing. It documents what Fibric would read from IESO Public Reports and what it could propose, based on the publisher's published interfaces. Fibric builds it under a managed deployment when you request it; selecting it here installs nothing.

  • RealtimeEnergyLMP: five-minute energy LMP and components as PUB_RealtimeEnergyLMP_YYYYMMDDHH.csv, plus DAHourlyEnergyLMP and PredispHourlyEnergyLMP
  • DAHourlyZonal, PredispHourlyZonal, and RealtimeZonalEnergyPrices for zonal prices, and PriceHOEPAverage and PriceNodal
  • Adequacy2 and Adequacy3: hourly requirements for today and the next 34 days, and VGForecastSummary: wind and solar for the next 48 hours
  • TxOutages folders for planned transmission outages from 1 to 730 days ahead, and IntertieScheduleFlow

What you can build

  • Move load off a five-minute price spike

    Poll RealtimeEnergyLMP for the hour's file and read the LMP at your pricing location. When it passes your threshold, the operator proposes shifting flexible load and cites the file version it used.

  • Plan the week against the Adequacy report

    Read Adequacy2 for hourly requirements over the next 34 days. The operator marks the tight hours, lines them up with your demand plan, and proposes where to move deferrable work.

    With Demand Outlook, Peak Demand

  • Run on Ontario's cleaner hours

    Read GenOutputbyFuelHourly and the 48-hour VGForecastSummary. When output by fuel type reaches the lower-emission share you set, the operator proposes running deferrable loads and leaves the rows behind the call.

Requirements

  • The report folder names and the zone or pricing location for each Ontario site you watch
  • An XML parser for reports such as GenOutputbyFuelHourly and Adequacy, and a CSV reader for Demand and LMP reports
  • The IESO copyright notice and a reference to its Terms of Use on any reproduction of the content
Authentication
None. The directory listing and files are served over HTTPS without registration.

Limits

  • Files rather than an API; you poll each folder's listing and pick the unversioned current file or the highest _vNNN copy
  • The Data Directory lists a 30-day archive for real-time LMP and variable generation forecasts and 90 days for Adequacy
  • Generator output by fuel type covers facilities with a maximum output capability of 20 MW or more
  • IESO provides the content as is and disclaims accuracy, completeness, and currency

Questions and answers

Do the reports need a login?
No. reports-public.ieso.ca lists every public folder and serves the files without an account. Reports publish in XML, CSV, or HTML depending on the report.
What do the _vNNN suffixes mean?
Each folder holds an unversioned file, such as PUB_Demand_2026.csv, and versioned copies such as PUB_Demand_2026_v262.csv. The unversioned file carries the same date as the highest version, so reading either gives the current report.
What do IESO's Terms of Use allow?
A limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferable licence to use and reproduce the content. Reproductions must carry the IESO copyright notice and a reference to the Terms of Use. Other uses need written permission. IESO offers the content as is.
