What you can build

• Check a drone inspection against UAS restrictions

  Read the current UAS Flight Restrictions dataset before a roof or facade inspection. The operator proposes go or hold for each planned site and names the zone and AIRAC date it checked.

  When a crew logs a drone flight, the operator proposes a compliance evidence entry that records which UAS restriction and obstacle dataset versions were in force that day.

  Compare the new 28-day dataset with the previous one for polygons around your sites. The operator proposes a change annotation for your approval when a zone appears, moves or is removed.

Requirements

• A registered briefing account, kept active with at least one login every 180 days, if you want PIBs
• A reader for XML, KML, CSV or XLSX dataset files and for the Dataset Checklist that lists which datasets are currently valid
• A refresh job keyed to AIRAC dates, since page URLs change with every cycle and the site asks you not to bookmark them
• The aerodromes, FIRs or points and radius you brief against

Authentication

The AIP, AICs, charts and digital datasets are open downloads. NOTAM Pre-flight Information Bulletins need a registered account on the AIS Internet Briefing System, created with Register now on the site.

Limits

• No machine feed or API for NOTAM; PIBs come from the briefing tool for registered users, with a contingency PIB site at nats.aero
• Regular datasets change every 28 days; irregular datasets such as the VRP List show No Planned Update until a new one arrives
• The terms state NATS cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of content and accepts no liability for its use
• Non-standard datasets belong to a Dataset Owner named on the page, and queries go to that owner, not to AIS

Questions and answers

Do I need an account?

Not for the AIP, AICs, charts or digital datasets. You need a registered account on the AIS Internet Briefing System to generate Pre-flight Information Bulletins, and the terms say accounts must log in at least once every 180 days or may be disabled.

How often do the datasets change?

Regular datasets, including UAS Flight Restrictions, the UK ICAO Obstacle Dataset Area 1 and the UK ICAO AIP Dataset, are updated and published every 28 days. Irregular datasets update on receipt. Non-standard datasets update on receipt but publish only on an AIRAC release date.

Which formats are offered?

The digital datasets page offers XML, KML, CSV and XLS or XLSX files, with a Dataset Checklist and a Product Specification describing scope, content, reference system, quality and delivery. The AIP is online, offline PDF for keyword search and offline HTML for navigation.
