DWD Pollenflug-Gefahrenindex

Three-day pollen hazard index for eight pollen types across German regions, published daily as JSON by Deutscher Wetterdienst.

About

Deutscher Wetterdienst's Medizin-Meteorologie unit issues the Pollenflug-Gefahrenindex every morning for today, tomorrow, and the day after. It covers eight pollen types, Hasel, Erle, Esche, Birke, Graeser, Roggen, Beifuss, and Ambrosia, for 27 sub-regions grouped under the German states. Each value is a hazard level from 0 (keine Belastung) to 3 (hohe Belastung), with half steps such as 1-2 and 2-3; -1 marks a missing value.

The whole forecast is one file, s31fg.json, on the DWD Open Data server, with last_update and next_update stamps and a legend that maps each level to its German description.

An operator reads the sub-region for each of your sites and proposes a filter check, an air-handling setting, or a guest note before a high-pollen day.

This is a reference listing. It documents what Fibric would read from DWD Pollenflug-Gefahrenindex and what it could propose, based on the publisher's published interfaces. Fibric builds it under a managed deployment when you request it; selecting it here installs nothing.

Inputs

  • Hazard levels for today, tomorrow, and dayafter_to for each of eight pollen types: Hasel, Erle, Esche, Birke, Graeser, Roggen, Beifuss, Ambrosia
  • 27 sub-regions (partregion_id, partregion_name) under 12 region groups (region_id, region_name), for example 124 Mainfranken under 120 Bayern
  • The legend block mapping levels 0, 0-1, 1, 1-2, 2, 2-3, and 3 to descriptions from keine Belastung to hohe Belastung
  • last_update and next_update stamps in the file header, with name and sender
  • Missing values marked -1

Proposed actions

Read-only. This feed informs operators; it changes nothing.

Proposed actions are target capabilities. Every action runs propose-first and needs a validated deployment and the appropriate permissions.

What you can build

  • Hold recirculation on a birch morning

Indoor Air reads tomorrow's Birke and Graeser levels for a building's sub-region and proposes an air-handling setting that limits outside air during peak hours. Filter Change proposes an earlier swap when levels stay at 3. You approve each change.

    With Indoor Air, Filter Change

  • Warn arriving guests with allergies

Arrival Prep reads the three-day index for the hotel's sub-region and drafts a pre-arrival note for guests who flagged pollen allergies, with a room-ready check that windows stay closed. The front desk approves before anything is sent.

    With Arrival Prep

  • Put pollen in the morning brief

Morning Brief adds today's hazard level per site to the day's summary, so facilities and front-of-house teams see a high-pollen day before it starts.

Requirements

  • The partregion_id for each site, from the region table in the DWD description PDF
  • Source acknowledgement to Deutscher Wetterdienst, as the CC BY 4.0 terms require
  • A once-daily fetch timed after the update, which the file's next_update field announces
Authentication
No key or registration. The file is served over plain HTTPS from opendata.dwd.de.

Limits

  • Coverage is Germany only, at sub-region resolution, not by coordinate or postcode
  • One forecast a day; there is no intraday update and no observation series in this file
  • Values are hazard levels, not pollen counts per cubic metre
  • Field names and legend text are German; the file has no English variant
