About

e-Stat is the portal site for Japanese government statistics, operated by the National Statistics Center of Japan. Its REST API allows systems to query statistical tables and time series collected across government ministries, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Finance. Datasets span the Consumer Price Index, Labour Force Survey, Family Income and Expenditure Survey, Population Census, and trade statistics.

Authentication
Application ID (appId) obtained via free registration on the e-Stat developer portal, passed as a query parameter in HTTPS requests.

Limits

  • Responses return a maximum of 100,000 statistical data records per API request
  • High-frequency queries are throttled to prevent server overload on the government portal
  • Certain demographic and agricultural survey series update only at multi-year intervals
